Surface finish: It is a generic term that describes several methods of removing material to get a matte or smooth surface.
Deburring: Deburring is a process of removing rough edges or minor imperfections (burrs) from a fabricated part.
Plating: It is a finishing process in which a layer of chromium, copper, or nickel is added to the fabricated part to enhance the appearance or inhibit corrosion
Anodizing: It is a surface treatment of the fabricated part to protect and improve its appearance.
Heat treatment: It is a set of methods that alter the fabricated part's physical properties, such as elasticity.
Powder coating: It is a process in which electrical charges fuse a dry powder to the surface of the fabricated part. The part goes into an oven to smooth the coating. Powder coating is more rigid than painting
Painting: It is a process of adding paint to the fabricated part.
Welding: It is a process that fuses metal parts using heat, pressure, or electrical charges. Welded components should have the same material and same thickness. Check the welding design guide for more information. Norck offers several welding methods, such as MIG and TIG.
Riveting: Riveting is used to join two or more sheet metal parts by the use of rivets ( a fastener like a pin but with a dome on one end)
Assembly: Product assembly designates assembling parts (fabricated, and/or bought) to form a final product or sub-assemblies. It can be performed manually using conventional tools or semi-automatically using special machines (with actuators and motors).
Testing: It is a set of operations performed on a product or part to validate its shape, appearance, or functionalities.
Mold textures: It is a process for injection molding in which patterns are engraved on the mold cavities. It is used to improve the aspect or handling of the molded part.
Surface finish: In injection molding, surface finishes are achieved by modifying the finish of cavities' surfaces (using CNC machining). In 3D printing, post-processing by removing material might be required.
Inserting threads: A threaded insert is a metallic fastener that acts like a bolt because plastic material is soft, and using regular threads for screws will make the plastic thread wear very fast.
Pad printing: It is a printing process that prints on 3D surfaces. It is made using a silicone pad that transfers the image from the cliché to the desired surface of the fabricated part.
Laser engraving: It is a process in which a laser beam marks the desired surface. Laser engraving can etch text, numbers, logos, or vector images.
Welding: Welding is a technique used to join two or more plastic parts by fusing them together or by adding a third material. It includes several methods, such as ultrasonic, hot plate, and laser welding.
Clear coating: It is the process of adding a thin transparent layer to plastic parts. Clear coating is used on 3D printed parts to smooth and enhance the appearance.
Plating: Plating on plastic parts is similar to the metal plating process, which is done by adding a layer of chromium, copper, or nickel is added to the fabricated part to enhance the appearance or inhibit corrosion.
